Hi it was our post wedding check in.
They have upgraded our room to Puteri Room. We were also given complimentary drinks & desert. We asked for late checkout and were amazed that we got quite a late checkout at 4pm.
Kudos to the team 👏🏽
So far the only downside I could say about the room is the lack of soundproof from external surrounding. Typical for shophouses. There is morning early 3am sound of rooster cuckoo and slight vehicle movements.
Other than that, it was good all around. Location is near arab street so for food, especially halal option is available to hunt.
Stayed at The Sultan – disappointed to find the rooms not up to par. Despite the historical charm, the accommodations were underwhelming, lacking the expected comfort and style. If you're looking for a cozy stay, might want to explore other options in the area. Location was near a metro though and near halal food.
Headboard dirty, sink and shower kept clogging up too. The staff made up for it though, they were nice and even fed the cats near by which was nice of them.
I would avoid and pick someone better in my opinion.
I’m a sucker for heritage buildings so when I saw this boutique hotel for a decent price I decided to give it a try. I was a little surprised at how small my room was at first considering I’d thought I booked a slightly larger one. I couldn’t say for sure if my room was indeed 17m2 but I decided it was good enough considering I was traveling solo.
The location is in the vibrant Arab quarter just ten minutes walk from Bugis MRT, an excellent central location. Marina Bay is just a couple of kilometers away.
The room itself was adequately clean but was a little worn with some scuff marks on the walls and minor staining on the sheets. The free mini bar and coffee capsules were nice. The air conditioning was excellent. The shower pressure was strong but the water can get extremely hot so be careful when adjusting it not to get burned!
I would also caution people that the hotel is an old building so it can get quite noisy with street noise - particularly if you get a ground floor room like me. The mosque also plays the call to prayer quite loudly so that will be disturbing for some. I’m an early riser so if you’re like me it shouldn’t bother you.
I love the area and the hotel was good but not sure it was good enough for a repeat visit! This will suite people on mid-range budgets looking to stay in a lively neighborhood, explore more and spend less time in the room
I've been in nicer jail cells...my room doesn't even have a window. I know they're trying but the place seems a very tired. Just because it has an old facade, doesn't mean the interior has to be that way as well. The positives are mosque …
NB: I didn't stay in one of the fancier rooms.
Clean accommodation in a heritage building convenient to a vibrant neighborhood.
The good: The bed is comfy, the pillows are nicely firm, the room is clean, the AC can get down to chilly, and the WiFi is fast. The front desk staff are polite and professional and the grounds/room staff are uncannily unobtrusive.
The so-so: The Sultan does the basics well but travelers should be aware that the site is historic and expectations should be realigned. Power outlets can be difficult to reach, the windows are not double paned (sounds get through v.easily), and the open-air complex provides only marginal shelter from the rain.
The bad: minor mold build-up in the shower.
Located in Sultan road which is between Lavender and Bugis MRT stations. We really enjoyed our stay here in terms of location, staff helpfulness and the amenities. You get free soft drinks and snacks in the minibar and cleanliness is top notch.
A reasonable budget hotel for short stays, however I think it would be uncomfortable for longer.
Rooms, whilst quite high, do not seem to all have windows, and my room was windowless which felt a bit sad.
Another problem I had was that cleanliness was not great, saw several stains on pillows, towels, bedsheets, and so forth, and sink and toilet was not too clean either.
Stayed here for a concert at Stadium and it was easy enough to Grab there and back, it's quite close.
Located just on the outskirts of main Kampong Glam area, it’s pretty convenient if you are exploring there. Service was great, check-in process was flawless. Considering Singapore lodging is on the pricy side, I would say worth the price (paid about $110 USD per night after fees)
Only complaint was that there are no outlets by the bed (it may just have been my room) and one of the outlet by the desk was so loose it was unusable. That only left me with two usable outlets to charge my phone, laptop, drone, and external battery pack. A little inconvenient.
Also, it seems like they do not clean the floors with care. There was literally about 2mm of solid dust built up beneath the bed which I presume is at least half a year’s worth.
